MAKATI CITY, Philippines- Ma. Crisena April Ebol, previously with Ingram Micro, as Sr. Security Analyst, recently received her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification after completing her project about the reduction of Incident Report Cycle Time.  Her project made the process consistent allowing them to meet the goal set by the sponsor for each priority ticket to be processed within three days, which ultimately leads to the process having 100% yield.

"It is like playing chess, one needs to know first how the pawn or the queen moves and differ with each other so you will know how to play the game." - Crisena Ebol, CSSGB

We had the chance to ask her a few questions to know more about her project and her Lean Six Sigma experience, luckily, we were able to gather info that can be useful for those who are aspiring to be certified! She even left some tips, see our conversation below:

Q. What prompted you to take the Lean Six Sigma Workshop?
Knowing how to improve the process, especially in the IT field, is very challenging as normally we do not have the right tools to implement proper change in the process.

Q. What Prompted you to start your project?
To know in-depth the methodology of Lean Six Sigma and how I can apply it in my work and in general.

Q. What was it like for you, starting up and executing your own project?
The challenge is to get the data and to get the commitment of the team.

Q. What were the key elements that led to the success of your project?
The key element is the consensus of the team to perform the change because they have found value in it.

Q. What was the impact of being a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt on you as an individual and a professional?
It is an honor to be Six Sigma Certified as it indicates that you know how to make a good revenue for the company.

"That's one reason why companies give high value to Certified Lean Six Sigma individuals. One does not just attend a program and receive his certification but has to successfully apply and show proper use of tools and methodology with actual work processes. One has to earn his Lean Six Sigma certification,"-
Rex Tuozo, “The Six Sigma Guy”

Q. What would be your message to those who are currently taking/planning to take the Green Belt Program or those who are currently conducting their own projects?
The key is to understand how the methodology works so one will know how to fit that into their projects. It is like playing chess, one needs to know first how the pawn or the queen moves and differs from each other so you will know how to play the game.

Q. Is there anything else that you'd like to share about your experience?
Even before I was still under training, I already felt the rise in my market value. Companies are looking for individuals like us because they know our value. I never regret the day I chose to take the Lean Six Sigma path. It is indeed the right decision especially the Lean Six Sigma is being recognized in the market. It is a good choice to start as one of the Lean Six Sigma Facilitators in the business.

To be certified in Lean Six Sigma, one has to complete an actual Lean Six Sigma project and apply process improvement tools, methodology, and techniques learned in class. "That's one reason why companies give high value to Certified Lean Six Sigma individuals. One does not just attend a program and receive his certification but has to successfully apply and show proper use of tools and methodology with actual work processes. One has to earn his Lean Six Sigma certification," Tuozo said. "If you attend our Lean Six Sigma programs, unlike other training providers, you get continuous support after the program, for no additional cost. You'll be assigned a Black Belt to help you complete your project," Tuozo added.
