MAKATI CITY, Philippines- Aldrin Tandang, currently with Sky Cable Corporation, earned his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification last February 24 of this year. In a recent interview, Aldrin talked about his Lean Six Sigma Experience as he identified the problems that needed to be attended to, the solutions that were necessary, and the changes that were delivered to his company.
To be certified in Lean Six Sigma, one has to complete an actual Lean Six Sigma project and apply process improvement tools, methodology, and techniques learned in class. "That's one reason why companies give high value to Certified Lean Six Sigma individuals. One does not just attend a program and receive his certification but has to successfully apply and show proper use of tools and methodology with actual work processes. One has to earn his Lean Six Sigma certification," Tuozo said. "If you attend our Lean Six Sigma programs, unlike other training providers, you get continuous support after the program, for no additional cost. You'll be assigned a Black Belt to help you complete your project," Tuozo added.

“The coaching process is very important. Why? This is your opportunity to listen to colleagues who have completed and experienced Lean Six Sigma projects. They selflessly share the best practices using Lean Six Sigma tools, and show how it should be practically done to make every result effective.” – Aldrin Tandang, Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
In the first quarter of 2015, there was an increasing rate of approximately 67.14% of non-moving box inventory in Sky Cable’s Warehouse. This resulted in the non-issuance of available boxes, and functional warehouse locations being occupied. Aldrin’s goal was to reduce the inventory rate to less than 5% by the end of September of the same year.
By the end of his project, Aldrin was able to achieve his goal. He was able to improve the process Sigma from 1.05 to 4.08; With non-moving boxes maintained below 5%, the Marketing and Logistics Teams were able to yield a good forecast. These results led to a financial impact of 500k per year in terms of Operational costs, 2M per year for Materials costs, and 5M per year for Warehouse costs – summing up to around 7.5 Million Pesos worth of savings per year.
“For those who are currently conducting their own projects, your focus is very vital to complete it.” -Aldrin
